Access for all at Tipton Church  Top of page

For disabled people we have ramp access at the main door, within which there is level access to the adapted toilet. There is also a wheelchair available and a loudspeaker system. A hearing loop serves those in the congregation with hearing aids switched to the 'T' position. There are large-print service booklets, hymn books and Bibles available for those who have difficulty reading small print and some services have hymn words etc. projected clearly onto the church wall.

If you have babies or younger children with you please feel free to make use of the carpeted play area at the back of the church at any time during the service, or to take back to your pew any of the toys or books for the children to play with there. Of our regular services, the Family Worship and Family Communion services are more suitable (less formal) services for children but we welcome all ages to every service.

How we can support you in your faith:   Top of page

We have a variety of Sunday worship services at St. John's (3 or 4 Sundays a month) and St. Gregory's Churches (2 Sundays a month), including a service of Holy Communion (Common Worship Order One) every Sunday morning, Family Worship once a month and Evensong (Book of Common Prayer) four times a year. The calendar of services can be seen at www.achurchnearyou.com/tipton-st-john/ and www.achurchnearyou.com/venn-ottery-st-gregory/.

Two small, informal homegroups meet on Thursdays: 10 am and 7.45 pm . We discuss the Bible and its relevance to our lives today,

Young people, of secondary school age, have two groups that meet once a month:

1st Sunday at 7 pm Chill Out in Newton Poppleford Church; 2nd Sunday at 5 pm TYC in Tipton Church.

Prayer:

·        a page of suggestions for prayer every month is posted on this website and is available from the back of Tipton Church and on the prayer board a the back of Tipton Church

·        a prayer meeting is held in Tipton Church at 9.15 am on the second Saturday of the month

We can order Daily Bible Reading Notes for your personal use. They are produced 3, 4 or 6 times a year: a range is on display at the back of Tipton church but others can be ordered.

There are many ways in which you could get involved in our church, as little or as much as you would like:

We have a small choir, affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music, always open to new members; people who read from the Bible or lead intercessionary prayer in services, arrange the flowers in church, make things for the church to sell (crafts, cakes or other home produce), make coffee after church services or help cater for special events such as the Harvest Supper.

There are a variety of administrative jobs you could help with; or help with regular events such as coffee mornings or less frequent events such as the Shrove Tuesday pancake races. You may feel you could serve on the pastoral visiting team or contribute to a prayer group.

There are also a small group of people who help to maintain the churches, including odd jobs.

To become a member of our church (only required if you wish to vote at the Annual Church meeting, or serve as a member of the Parochial Church Council or as steward) you need to join the Church Electoral Roll. A form can be obtained from the Electoral Roll Officer.
