We always welcome new members - Juniors aged 8 to 17 and Seniors 18 onwards.
History
Our amateur dramatic society was formed in 1948 by the Rev. W.A.D. Edwards, Vicar of Tipton. It was then named Tipton St John Players. The membership was made up from local people and plays were staged twice yearly. Plays were often "toured" in nearby Villages such as Sidbury, East Budleigh, The Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth and the "Town Hall" Budleigh Salterton. The society disbanded between the years 1966 and 1971 due to low membership numbers.
A separate Tipton society for Pantomime was amalgamated with Tipton Players in 2002 and the newly formed society became known as Tipton Players and Pantomime Society T.I.P.P.S
Since then the society has managed to stage One Act Plays, Musical Entertainment, Full Plays and a multitude of Pantomimes.
Members and Committee
In 2011 we have a strong membership of 68 Adults and 25 Juniors and always welcome new members - albeit to act on stage, help out front of house or painting scenery or Directing or shifting furniture.
The trend over the past few years is for a Pantomime to be staged every two years in the February half term and for an entry by both the Juniors and Seniors section in the Exmouth one act play festival (see www.blackmoretheatre.co.uk ) in April. The October production is usually a full play or three one act plays - We are always exploring different ideas of shows and plays to appeal to a wider audience.
We have a full committee of 15 members - including 3 Junior representatives.
