      Sharing God’s love with our community
“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
 turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.” Psalm 17:6

This month please pray for the residents of Coombe Vale, Lancercombe including Otter Close, and Sidmouth Road.

Loving Lord, we continue to pray for the families and friends of Eleanor Wragg and Edward Twiss following their funerals last month. Hold them close to your heart in their hour of sadness.

Heavenly Father, we pray for our Vicar, Mark, taking time off at the start of this month that he may have fun and relaxation with his family but also find time for spiritual refreshment. May he and they be kept safe in your loving care. And we ask your special blessing on him too, Lord, as he takes on the additional role of Rural Dean for the Ottery Deanery. Amen.

6th August – The Transfiguration: Father in heaven, whose Son Jesus Christ was wonderfully transfigured upon the holy mountain: give us strength so to hear his voice and bear our cross that in the world to come we may see him as he is; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
6th August – Evening Service As we reflect on Jesus’ invitation to: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” may we all experience the peace that comes from knowing him.

12th August – UN International Youth Day – This year’s theme is “Youth Building Peace” and recognises the vital role that young people play in conflict prevention and sustaining peace. Pray too that many of the world’s youth will find hope for the future in the gospel of Christ.
12th August – Pray for the marriage blessing taking place in Tipton Church, that God would watch over the couple on their special day and throughout their married life together.

13th August – Baptism of Lily – Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing on this young child as she comes with her family for baptism. Fill her with your Spirit that she may grow in strength and faith day by day, and come to acknowledge you as her Lord and Saviour. Amen.
Heavenly Father, we continue to pray for the work of Crosslinks as it takes God’s word to God’s world. Please bless especially Jonny Burgess, Roy and Barbara’s grandson, as he teaches Bible teachers in the Gambia and prepares for his wedding in September.

17th & 24th August: We bring before God those getting their A level and GCSE results on these days respectively – may they be blessed with the results they need to fulfil God’s plan for their lives.

19th August – On UN World Humanitarian Day we remember the sacrifice of those who have lost their lives offering assistance and aid to refugees and those affected by natural disasters. Keep safe all who continue such work including Roger and Elizabeth Cozens in Nepal.

21st August – We join with the Diocese in praying for our bishops – Robert, Nick and Sarah – that they would be refreshed and renewed over the summer. Thank God for their ministry to the church in Devon.
O Lord our Creator and Father of all, we pray for those who are ill.  Bless them, and those who serve their needs, that they may put their whole trust in you. We particularly think of Avril Jordan, former vicar of this parish, and Mac Dick. Where it is your will bring healing, and where it is not grant the grace to endure in faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

28th August: Pray for God’s blessing on our church fete – for fine weather, big crowds and a truly joyous occasion where we are able to share God’s love with our village community. The fete is also our key fund-raising event of the year and the financial health of the church is dependent on a good day. Give thanks for all who have given of their time, energy and donations in support of this magnificent event.
