JANUARY PRAYER PAGE Sharing God’s love with our community
“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work, prayeristhe greater work.” Oswald Chambers
Let us recommit ourselves to God’s service at the beginning of this New Year in the words of the Methodist Covenant Prayer: I am no longer my own, but yours. Your will, not mine, be done in all things, wherever you may place me, Your will be done when I am valued and when I am disregarded; when I find fulfilment and when it is lacking; when I have all things, and when I have nothing. I willingly offer all I have and am to serve you, as and where you choose. Glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. May it be so for ever. Let this covenant now made on earth be fulfilled in heaven. Amen. We continue to pray for the family and friends of Howard Govier, former curate of this parish, who passed away on Christmas Eve. As each day passes may God’s peace and love be an ever-present comfort. 6thJanuary – Epiphany –Creator of the heavens, who led the Magi by a star to worship the Christ-child: guide and sustain us, that we may find our journey’s end in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. This month please pray for the residents of Venn Ottery Road, Venn Ottery and Southerton. Loving Lord, we lift to You those known to us who are suffering in body, mind, heart and spirit. Please give wisdom to carers and friends seeking to bring them relief, and intervene with the healing, strength and peace that Your Spirit alone can bring. Amen. 11thJanuary:Pray forthe members ofthe PCCas it meets today – may they make wise decisions that further God’s kingdom here. 2012promises to be an important year for our nation as we celebrate theQueen’s Diamond Jubileeand host theOlympic Games– we pray God’s blessing on all the events linked to these and on all who participate, especially those visiting our country, that they may be warmly welcomed and become aware of our Christian heritage. 14thJanuary – Parish Prayer Meeting- Wherever you may be please join in prayer with those gathering in Tipton Church for our monthly prayer meeting, that together in the Holy Spirit we may bring all the needs of our community and church to God, and also seek his will for our ongoing mission and ministry. 18th-25thJanuary – Week of Prayer for Christian Unity:God of power and love, by your Holy Spirit, draw the scattered flock of Christ into a visible unity and make your Church a sign of hope to our divided world; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
